To achieve a VA Level 4 accreditation, a referee can only be nominated Volleyball Australia's Referee Committee.
To submit your Volleyball Australia Level 4 Referee Accreditation application, you must complete the following steps.
1. You must be a current member of your State or Territory Volleyball Association. Please note your application will be rejected if your state membership is not current. This will be verified by your State.
2. You must be an accredited Volleyball Australia Level 3 Referee.
3. Provide a letter of endorsement from your State Association.
4. Complete the following Play By The Rules and Sport Integrity Australia modules and attain the courses Certificates of Completion:
PBTR- Harassment and Discrimination
SIA- Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction (For 18 year olds and over only)
5. Supply a summary/CV of all officiating duties undertaken since your last referee upgrade or upgrade application. A full log outlining matches and other activities should be attached as supporting documentation, including any International Matches, National Competitions & Events, State Competitions & Events, other Duties or PD activities. This should include all matches officiated (i.e. first referee, second referee, scorer, & linejudge) and any other related duties undertaken (e.g. referee delegate, referee assessor, course presenter) or other PD activities.
6. Provide letters of support outlining the nature of activity a referee has undertaken during a tournament and MUST contain evidence that a referee has demonstrated competency based on the VARC Grading summary (Link Here) including R1, R2 (compulsory), scoring and line judging(preferably)
Letters of support provided can be but not limited to from the following:
- Option A: 1 x Letter of support from Australian Youth/Junior Volleyball/Beach Volleyball Championships Referee Delegate within the preceding 4 years at time of application
- Option B : 2 x Letter of support from other National Tournaments (eg. AVSC, AVL, Unisport, Good Neighbour Honours Division) within the preceding 4 years at time of application. The Referee Delgate must be appointed/endorsed by VARC.
- Option C : 4 x Letter of support from a Referee Delegate at State Championships/State league finals, State Cup within the preceding 4 years at time of application with no more than two letters from the same Referee Delegate (where possible). The Referee Delegate must be Level 4 or International.
- Option D: A combination of options B and C within the preceding 4 years at time of application.
The suitability of the activity and any other activities are at the discretion of VARC.
7. Once you have all the required documents, return to this portal, upload all the required documents and pay the application fee $49.50. If unsuccesful, 50% of your application fee will be refunded.
Upgrades are considered biannually with applications closing on the 30 April and 30 September each year. Please note it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their application is received before the closing date.
Applications will be reviewed by Volleyball Australia Referee Committee (VARC) at the bi-annual meetings scheduled as below:
Annual Meeting 1 - May of each year
Annual Meeting 2 - October of each year
