Beach Volleyball Served Cityside - Countdown begins to 2025 World Championships
The 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships draws ever nearer with November marking one year to go until the event lights up the South Australian capital, Adelaide.
To mark the occasion, the International Beach Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball Australia have today launched an exciting new look for the tournament to coincide with a number of significant announcements.
The World Championships, which will take place from 14-23 November 2025, will see “Beach Volleyball Served Cityside”, with one of the most fun and energetic sporting events in the world landing in the heart of Adelaide, attracting a local, domestic and international audience.
The vibrant new brand is inspired by elements that are iconically South Australian from its Pink Lakes, Sturt Desert Pea and beautiful sunset skies. The look and feel of the tournament will be rolled out across venues and activations in the lead up to and throughout the World Championships.
“Launching the look and feel of Adelaide 2025 and seeing how the venues will come to life makes next November’s Beach Volleyball World Championships feel so much closer,” said Jenny Mann, Adelaide 2025 CEO. “The new brand pays homage to the unique colours and diversity of nature found in South Australia, and does so in a bright, fun and exciting way which is truly reflective of the sport.
“People come to Beach Volleyball events for a great time and the venues and event experience we are creating is going to deliver that environment both on and off the court”
Today has also seen organisers name the first three Adelaide 2025 Ambassadors:
● Kerri Pottharst - Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist
● Mariafe Artacho del Solar - Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist
● Zach Schubert - Paris 2024 Olympian and proud South Australian
The trio represent over a quarter of a century of elite Australian beach volleyball experience with all three set to play a part in next year’s tournament either on or off the sand.
For Pottharst, seeing the event come to her home town of Adelaide is something extremely special.
“It’s so exciting to have the Beach Volleyball World Championships coming to Australia,” she said. “It’s been a long time coming since the buzz that was created 24 years ago in Sydney.
“For me personally, to still be involved as a commentator and now as an ambassador for the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, is a real honour.
“Australia hosting this event will be an incredible opportunity not just for our athletes and broader sport, but also for the fans of Olympic sports.
“The younger athletes will have the opportunity to experience the highest level of competition in our sport, which is so often played in the northern hemisphere.
“This will be a fantastic stepping stone towards the 2032 Olympics. So many of our junior athletes are competing now and those that might be inspired to take up the sport following the World Championships, they could find themselves standing on court come 2032.”
With beach volleyball being one of the most sought-after tickets at the Paris Olympic Games, fans can ensure they don’t miss out on being a part of next year’s event by registering for the ticketing wait list through Volleyball Australia and Ticketek. With a hospitality pre-release in late 2024 and tickets going on sale to the general public early in 2025, fans are strongly encouraged to join the wait list to give the best possible chance of being courtside next November.
