VACT update on COVID-19 impact 15 May 2020

Published Mon 11 May 2020

Dear Members

Please find a link below to a statement from VACT President Dan Williams and the Board relating to the impact of COVID-19, as at 15 May 2020.

Please note all VACT activicties are postponed until further notice.

You may be aware of further easing of restrictions on COVID-19 lock downs and in particular as they relate to community sport. The ACT Government is working closely with sporting organisations including Volleyball ACT on how this can be properly managed to continue to observe physical distancing measures, personal hygiene, and effective cleaning of touch points etc. While there is no indication on when Indoor facilities will reopen we are in a position to explore Outdoor option at the Lyneham Beach Facility. Volleyball ACT is considering how the Facility can be used to serve the community as restrictions ease.

VACT is aiming to provide members with some positive news, most likely next week.

These are of course different and somewhat difficult times and any interim return to play will not be the same as in the past. As the guidance from the Government on safe participation in sports becomes clearer, VACT will work with all of you to achieve a manageable and safe operating procedure. We will definitely need patience, understanding and constructive input as we put this together.

VACT thanks all members for their understanding.

Regards

VACT
